Resumen

Las prácticas educativas parentales han sido tradicionalmente consideradas como elementos importantes de riesgo/protección para el desarrollo de los problemas de conducta y el ajuste psicosocial. Sin embargo, se sabe sorprendentemente poco sobre los determinantes de esas prácticas educativas; este trabajo se centra, particularmente, en los rasgos de personalidad. El objetivo fundamental es examinar cómo se asocian la personalidad de los padres, las prácticas educativas y las alteraciones de comportamiento tanto de corte internalizante como externalizante. Para ello, se contó con la participación de 127 familias, en las que se tomaron datos procedentes tanto de autoinformes como de escalas de calificación cumplimentadas por padres y profesores. En general, los resultados avalan el interés de la personalidad para entender las relaciones que se establecen entre padres e hijos, y muestran las conexiones entre las prácticas educativas y los problemas de conducta. Además, la personalidad parental también se relaciona con los problemas de conducta,independientemente de las prácticas educativas.
