Abstract

Scientific research and social intervention are usually seen as two disconected worlds. In order to bridging the gap between science and practice, we present a practice-centered model of application. Using the framework developed by Wandersman (2003), eight strategies to facilitate knowledge transfer are proposed. As well as the disemination of scientific information, the model includes three other kinds of strategies: (a) management and sistematization of professional practice, (b) colaboration between researchers and practitioners, and (c) community empowerment. To illustrate the model the case of substance abuse prevention programs is analysed.
