Abstract

Most of investigations on the stereotypes in the oldness they are centered in studying the perception that on the greater ones other groups of age have. To a lesser extent, other investigations analyze the perception that the greater ones have on their own group. Before the emptiness on what it thinks the old one on he himself, we have seted out to know: I low are perceived the old ones within their group?, how perceives the old one to the components of its generational group? and the existence of correlation between hetero-stereotyping and self-stereotyping of the greater person. For it we elaborated a list of 30 adjectives that measured the hetero-stereotyping and the selfstereotyping of the greater people. From the analyses made to a sample of 539 old ones it is interesting the resistance and the difference found throughout the study between self-stereotyping and hetero-stereotyping;, that is to say, between the structure of beliefs that the subject maintains on itself and the structure of beliefs that the subject maintains on the rest of the old ones.
