Abstract

The extensive research on work-family has focused on the effects of multiple roles on women's work attitudes and its psychological consequences. The main aim of this study is to analyse the relationship between working roles and family roles in working women. 200 mothers working in education, health and administration-related jobs participated in the study. The factor analysis showed that six factors could explain the relationship between work and family. Results indicate that family roles are defined in relation to the working roles, and both are necessary for personal fulfilment. Problems in making both compatible were not apparent. At the same time, the women of the sample did not define family roles from a traditional point of view. However, having children continues to change the life of mothers more than it does that of fathers.
