Abstract

In this article, we present a critical revision of the most relevant research about burnout in coaches. We analyse the aspects that have supported the establishment ofresearchthemes allowing a better understanding ofthe syndrome in this context. The coaching profession is a high risk profession, because of the intense interactions that must be established with other persons in the sports context and the strong pressures beared. We put forward a theoretical model that could help explain the origin and development of burnout in coaches.
