Abstract

The attachment theory formulated by John’ Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth is one of the most solid theoretical formulations in the field of social-emotional development. Far from having weakened over the years, it has received increasing support and contributions, which have made this into one of the main areas.of research it in developmental psychology.

This article presents some of the most recent developments in the field, such as the intergenerational transmission of secure. attachment, differences in attachment to mother and father, multiple-figure attachment, relationship between secure. attachment and alternative day-care, relationship between temperament and attachment, and cross-cultural validity of attachment theory
