The purpose of the present work was to make a preliminary study for the Infant Behavior Questionnaire-Revised validation (IBQ-R, Rothbart & Gartstein, 2000) in the Mexican population. 64 questionnaires were applied in different Child Development Centers. The questionnaire was answered for mothers of 6 months babies who were from Mexico City and of a medium socioeconomic level. The internal instrument was studied through the analysis of the extraction of principal axes with Oblimin rotation, the instrument scales were grouped in tree factors with ·= 0.94 of total alpha and a 58.8% of explained variable. (F1: Outgoing (·= 0.85), F2: Negative Affectivity (·= 0.78) y F3: Auto regulation (·=0.53). The structure of the
Mexican version maintains the same level of the original version, thus because tree clinical factors are equivalent nevertheless light modifications of the original scales were made, this converts the IBQ-R in an adequate instrument for the Mexican population.
