Computer-mediated interaction: Analysis of the Forum of Humanities and Philology of the Open University if Catalonia

Abstract

The concept of interaction is central to discussions regarding the nature of computer mediated social interactions. However, with few exceptions, the interaction itselfis not receiving rigorous treatment as an object of study. We have paid special attention to the concepts of participation, participant and interaction and ourintention in this article, which is based on an empirical study of the Forum of Humanities and Catalan Studies, is to clarify the processes through which interaction on the Internet is constructed. Our aimis twofold: on the one hand, to investigate those aspects which will allow us to demonstrate the existence of joint action in the Forum, and on the other hand, to propose a model for the analytical study of interaction on the Internet.
