Abstract

The present article presents a new field of psychological professional intervention within the area of victimology. The use of the principles of counselling in the prevention of trauma and the development of strategies to cope with the repetitive confrontation with the same aggressor, by means of cognitive-behavioural techniques, is discussed.

An assessment of three sexual assaults suffered and victim-: -aggressor interactions, as well as their effects, are analyzed using the CEPV (Psychological Victimization Assessment Questionnaire). The CEPV is based on the transactional theory of stress.
