Motivation and work behaviour: a specific issue in occupational psychology

Abstract

Why do we work? Why does the level of individual effort in relation to work differ from one person to another? What can management do to influence this process?
This article seeks to take stock of the existing efforts to explain which motives most strongly influence the determination of work behavior, the relationships that arise from such influence, and the implications this entails for managerial practices.
