Abstract

Autism refers to a neuropsychological alteration of heterogenous characteristics, whose serious and generalized symptoms are mainly exposed in three areas of development: cognitive, linguistic and social. Intervention in autism must be made in an individual way, attempting to strengthen the communicative abilities of the autistic children, supporting the interactions, their social skills and fortifying the desired behaviours while the dysfunctional ones are diminished. In this work, an up to date review is made on the nuclear symptomatology of autism. The main tools and  instruments, that must be considered in the process derived from a plan of intervention focused towards the reeducation or the treatment of this symptomatology, are presented under the light of the new knowledge.
