This essay reviews some of the articles on menopause published in March 2024 by the magazine The Lancet. These articles critically reflect on the position that official medicine has maintained over the last fifty years by defining menopause as a disease caused by hormone deficiency that must be treated. While acknowledging the damage that these treatments have caused to women's health and the resulting stigmatization of this transition, The Lancet suggests initiating a conversation in order to transform the theoretical corpus by incorporating a large part of the theses supported by critical feminist positions. This essay analyzes the arguments sustained by official medicine as well as the theses of critical feminist thought. It celebrates the latest coincidence of proposals and arguments, especially with regard to mental health and the consideration of menopause as a natural process within the life cycle, with enormous positive consequences in women's lives.
