Abstract

The forces opposing analytic work are known as resistances. Each individual “resists” in a peculiar way, although relatively common patterns exist depending on the underlying basic conflict, the developmental stage, and other influences. This article addresses the technical approach to analysing such resistances, to be complemented in a forthcoming contribution focusing on the specific rules guiding this work.
