Some clinical features of male depression have guided us to develop an specific group intervention: higher incidence of committed suicide, refusal to professional treatment, tendency to isolate and drugs use in order to soothe the pain. In this work we intend to explain clinical improvement of six patients diagnosed with chronic major depression after two years of group psychotherapy. This treatment is based on Interpersonal Psychotherapy. We used Psychometric tests: MADRS (assesses the intensity of depressive symptoms), SDI (perceived disability in different areas) and CGI-SI (clinical impression). Results show a global improvement. It is necessary to highlight, from our experience in this group psychotherapy, the relevance of a specific and long – term treatment due to prevent relapses.
