This article proposes a way of tackling students with behaviour problems from the point of view of School Counselors Team that intervene in Early Childhood and Primary Education. This approach is based on the authors’ own experience. The starting
point takes into account the contributions of Evolutionary Psychology and the Behavioural Systems Perspective. School participates in a group of related systems in which these behaviour problems may arise, which mostly generate added stress and represent a challenge for the concerned professionals. Thus, a series of actions and procedures called “good practices” are presented. They are aimed at involving the formal structures of every school so as to channel and solve these problems properly as well as cooperate with other systems -families, health units, and social services- and try to minimize side effects that are likely to rise when intervening. To conclude, the full cooperation of all the systems involved and the training of education professionals in the knowledge and use of evidence-based programmes are deemed necessary to provide alternatives that help to overcome the difficulties derived from these students with behaviour disorders.
