Abstract

Individuals wishing to become competent as family mediators will benefit from the inclusion of theoretical, practical, and research-based components in family mediation training that focus on communication, conflict, and power.

These components, combined with a clear discussion of the theoretical or value-based underpinnings of the model being presented in training, will enable family mediators to integrate theory and thechnique as they begin the journey toward competent mediation practice.
