Abstract

This brief review of the history and present situation of mediation in Spain serves as an introduction to the present monographic issue. lts development in countries of the same cultural background is also presented. A critical analysis of the actions, inadequately coordinated, carried out both in these other contexts and our own regional and central (in this case lack of action) administrations is presented. The article concludes with a short, but not less important, reference to the Recommendations of the European Council relative to the necessary legal regula- tion of the practice of mediation.
