Abstract

The appearance of AIDS and its impact have made this disease a psychosocial phenomenon that surpasses the possibilities of an exclusively somatic analysis. A biopsychosocial approach is thus needed. It is within this framework that contributions to this topic in the field of health psychology to the problem have been made. In this line, the present article, following a definition of the problem titled "psychological aspects of AIDS at present“ presents the actual interventions that psychological management can offer today. This is completed with the presumed future psychological developments in this field, which define a particular branch of psychology which is getting to be known as psychology of AIDS.
