The inclusion of mental health care in the Public Health System, following a period of progressive reform which decentralized psychiatric care in mental hospitals, raises new welfare demans which, in turn, call for different approaches to those already developed. On the other hand, the presence of psychologists in this Public Community Service as non-medical personnel entails the introduction of new professional responses such as psychotherapy. The analytical method, which involves a distinct form of reasoning to medical reasoning, inspires certain psychotherapeutic responses in the District Mental Health Care Teams. These include individual treatments within groups based on listening and speech.
