.Abstract
The aim of this paper is to provide a critical evaluation of theoretical models which, from a behavioural perspective, have attempted to explain enuretic disorders, while also discussing the extent to which effective techniques correspond to these explanatory models. After a brief exposition of these models and the techniques derived from them, we analyse the inadequacy of attributing effective techniques to models rooted in opposing stances — internal versus external variables — to explain the genesis of enuretic disorders. We argue that clinical intervention in enuretic or dysfunctional urinary patterns should address each altered variable, whether physiological, motor or social. In conclusion, we suggest that traditional explanatory models, far from being antagonistic, should be considered complementary.
