Abstract

This article offers a historical approach to the situation of mentally deficient patients institutionalized in psychiatric centers, along with a brief description of their condition at the Miraflores Psychiatric Hospital in Seville. Finally, it presents the principles that have guided the creation and design of the Mental Deficiency Unit at the Miraflores Psychiatric Hospital in Seville.
