Mediation in criminal justice should be increasingly used in our legal system, since the instruments necessary for its implementation already exist. All that is needed, both in material and procedural aspects, is organizing and rationalizing these resources within the context of the new criminal law process, in order to increase the flexibility and speed of response in minor offences. Its regulation should abide by the general principles established by the Experts Committee of the European Commission in April 1999, that are included as an appendix.
