This paper introduces the concept of self-efficacy and its applications in work issues. First, basic concepts of self-efficacy, its functions and effects are presented, and a microanalysis approach to the measurement of self-efficacy is also described. Second, seven situations where self-efficacy plays a central role are examined: (1) career choice, (2) job seeking, (3) salary negotiation, (4) internal promotion, (5) formation, (6) complex decision making, and (7) group self-efficacy and leadership.
