Abstract

This work analyzes the role that today's pscyhologist plays in relation to attention-deficit disorder with hyperactivity. Emphasis is placed on the need for specialization due both to the complex characteristics of the disorder and the development of clinical psychology. A- multidisciplinary approach is proposed. Among the specific duties of the psychologist is a well-based differential diagnosis, based on commonly accepted criteria. Reference is made to the currently most used diagnostic instruments. The article ends reviewing some of the present and future trends in the study and treatment of this disorder.
