Characteristics of psychological intervention with' physically ill patients aa General Hospital are described. It is stressed that psychological, family and social adjustment is found to be associated with the nature of the chronic illness itself. Hence, physicians and nurses understand the necessity for psychological treatment. The psychological intervention in liver transplant, AIDS, and radiotherapy oncology programmes are also described.
