.Abstract
For years, psychopathology remained outside the scientific framework of contemporary psychology. While the latter increasingly distanced itself from the philosophical roots from which it emerged (especially with the advent and rise of behaviorism) psychopathology continued to rely on regressive philosophical assumptions.
This divorced trajectory has recently come to an end, as contemporary psychopathology has incorporated the concepts and methods of modern psychology, aiming to overcome its still pre-critical state and achieve a greater degree of objectivity in its theoretical principles.
